May Bead Demo: Crab Charms

May is a busy month! It has been a month of celebrations for Moms, end of school year activities, graduation ceremonies, construction on our home and lots of stuffy noses and coughing going around. I'm always relieved to be able to come back to beading when I need a break.

I would love to spend some time beading with you tomorrow, Sunday May, 21. Please come to my May Bead demonstration at The Bead Gallery, Honolulu! We will be working on the crab charm shown on the left.

The crab is made with Miyuki Delica seed beads and hand beaded using the brick stitch bead weaving technique. I will be going over the basic stitches you need to learn in order to make this crab design. You will receive a complimentary crab pattern so you can practice this design at home. Beading supplies are available for purchase in store.

Please contact me to rsvp or inquire about the demonstration. Email BeadCrumbsHawaii@gmail.com or visit my events page on Facebook.

Where to Find My Bead Patterns and Charms

Yikes and Hooray! I finally made a decision to open up a 2nd Etsy shop just for my charms. My main shop, Bead Crumbs, will carry only patterns. My new shop, Bead Confections, will be for my charms. While I will continue to focus primarily on patterns, occasionally, I will list my newer designs and popular ones that are requested.

I hope this second shop will make it easier to distinguish the patterns from my finished pieces. It has caused some confusion with buyers in the past.

You will be able to use the same "return customer" coupon code in both shops when you make a purchase. This is the code you received with your previous Etsy purchase.

To find charms locally, on Oahu, please visit The Bead Gallery, Honolulu (TBG). TBG stocks my "loose" charms so you can design your own jewelry and accessories. I love TBG because I always learn something new whenever I visit. The staff are experts in beads, gems, wire, tools, jewelry making and so much more. I'm so happy to be a part of their community!

Here is my current listing on Bead Confections. I hope you'll visit me soon!

April Bead Demo: Koi Charms

Sunday, April 16, 2017 will be the next beading demonstration at The Bead Gallery, Honolulu. Stop in after your Easter egg hunt. It will be from 3 - 4:30 PM.

Here is the information:

Get ready to celebrate Childrens' Day with beaded koi charms. Traditionally called "Boys' Day", May 5th, is the day many local families fly koi streamers outside of their homes for the boys in their family. The koi represents success and strength.

On April 16, I'm going to demonstrate the basic stitches you need to know to make your own koi charms at home. Make one for each boy (and girl!) in your family. There will be patterns for a large koi and a smaller koi. I will be working on the larger koi but both patterns will be distributed for free!

If you have attended a previous demo, and are familiar with basic bead weaving stitches, you can still join us! Pick up your free patterns and get started on your project.

The koi can be made in any color you want! Delica beads and beading supplies are available for purchase at The Bead Gallery.
