Suggested by my husband (who did not read and does not plan to read Red Rising). He happened to hear about this book and thought I would enjoy it. After dragging my feet, I decided to check it out because it is rare to get a book recommendation from him.
I certainly did not think I'd love a book that involved a zillion characters with names I could not pronounce fighting in a dark and violent dystopian galactic world. To be honest, I nearly gave up on Red Rising during the first few chapters but, somewhere between the lines I got caught up in the the drama, excitement and emotions (including humor) of the story that I could not put it down. I don't know how it happened and where I went from "I can't believe I'm reading this!" to "This book is awesome (with a happy dance)!" As a testament to how much I loved this book, upon completion, I zoomed over to the library to borrow the second book, Golden Son. Now I'm impatiently looking forward to the third installment, Morning Star, scheduled to be released in 2016.
This beaded wolf pattern is available here for those who would like to make their own "Howler". It's a pretty simple brick stitch design using Delica seed beads. I think you'll enjoy this pattern but you will need to know basic bead weaving stitches (see sample pattern post).
Did you read Red Rising or Golden Son? What do you think? If not, here is the review on Good Reads- Red Rising Review, Golden Son Review.
As I mentioned earlier, I don't do book reviews but I'd like to mention this blog that does, The Egghead Reviews. I'm a fan of these teen Eggheads because I live with one :) Stop by and say "Hi!" and Thanks for visiting my blog!
