Flower Earrings

Gosh...it's been busy around here. Mostly the good kind of busy. The kids are on spring break and we've been enjoying our time together. I made a vow to exercise today because we've been indulging in a lot of junk food.  The kids convinced me that singing along with Wii Rock Band was exercise so I burned some calories baying at the TV while the neighbors ran to find ear plugs.

During my "me time", I was able to complete these simple flower earrings.

Handmade Cute Etsy

These pretty flower beads are mounted on small French ear wires. The wires are titanium and hypoallergenic. It contains no nickel and are great for those with sensitivity to metal...like me.

Newest Colors Available:
Purple Flower Earrings
Yellow Flower Earriings

Green Flower Earrings

What have you been up to this week? I hope you are all happy and doing well!

Weekly Round-Up: Bears and a Bracelet

Lately I've gotten into a routine - during the weekdays, I bead, take photos, show a sneak peek of my completed work on Facebook and draft up my listings. On the weekends, I review my drafts and publish my product listings on Etsy. I'm not sure if is an effective method of running an Etsy shop but a change in my daily schedule has made this new routine easier for me.

Here is a weekend round-up of the pieces I listed in my shop, Handmade Cute.

Curated Exhibits

Being featured in an Etsy Treasury collection is a big deal for me. For those not familiar with Treasuries, it is a member-curated exhibit of Etsy products that is usually based on themes or trends. It can also be a selection of the author's favorite items. I find it time consuming to create a Treasury and for that reason, I haven't made many collections. The time that is invested into making a beautiful Treasury is a compelling reason for me to appreciate the galleries even more. When that the curator is a talented artist and decides to include my work, well, that it is an amazing honor!!

Here are my pieces that have been featured in recent Treasuries and a sample of the the curator's wonderful work. More information about the Treasury, the curator and the individual listings are found below.

I Love Your Smile!

Google Reader is dying. It's shutting down. Up on my bookmark bar is the "Next" button that I press whenever I have time to do some pleasure reading. Clicking "Next" unclogs my email inbox because it replaces the "follow by email" option and allows me to get my blog fix in an instant. Sigh...I guess I need to keep up with the times. How do you keep you keep connected to your favorite blogs?

Here are a few of the special blogs that appear on my reading list. I love these bloggers because each post brings a smile to my day.

Images of A Perfect Day in Hawaii

I call up my neighbor...

and say, "Hey! Let's go down to the beach, sink our toes in the sand and search for ocean treasure!"

"Sounds fun!", says my friend. "But wait...let me get my slippers."

"How about a snack afterwards?" she suggests.

DIY T-Shirt Bag

Here's a T-Shirt Bag tutorial that I did on a crafty web site called Cut Out + Keep. I thought it would be fun to share it here too. Enjoy!

Okay, so you got a t-shirt that is too faded or may have a tiny hole so you can't give it away. Or maybe you are too attached to a shirt and don't want to use it as a rag. We have a few of those around the house and decided to make T-Shirt bags with them - giving these old favorites a new life. I enjoyed this project because it was quick and easy and I did not need to drag out my sewing machine.

Materials:
Old T-Shirt
Scissors

Instructions:

1. Cut off sleeves along seams. Cut out collar in a square shape and finally, cut an even amount of strips along the bottom of shirt. Lines show the area where you will be cutting.

2. Tie double knots along the bottom of the shirt matching front with back. Make sure you tie the knots tight.

3. Tie shoulder straps. They will become your handles. You can change the look by tying the straps in different ways, as shown above.

I'd recommend using this bag for lightweight objects. We normally use our bags to haul extra clothing or tas beach bags. With heavier objects such as books, the bag may stretch and little gaps may appear where the two sides are connected by the knots. At a children's swap meet event, we packaged our customer's purchases into the bags we made and it was a big hit!

Well I hope you enjoyed this project idea. Thanks for stopping by!

I've Never Met a Grumpy Cow

I've never met a grumpy cow. Have you? The cows I've known have been gentle and passive. In fact, so gentle and passive that they seem like their mind is elsewhere. Perhaps somewhere in space, thinking about jumping over the moon?

Beaded Cow Charm / Pendant

I've never met a lion. Period! He is probably thinking about eating the cow who is daydreaming about jumping over the moon.

A Girl's Day

How did you spend Girl's Day, March 3?

Our family celebrated Girl's Day throughout the weekend and because "girl's rule" in our home, we hope to celebrate all year long! Our weekend included a simple but nice lunch, a bead show and new swim suits for the kids who will be starting lessons soon. I also went window shopping on Etsy and discovered some great finds.

My discoveries include...
1. Lemon Meringue Yellow Ceramic Buttons by The Wicked Potter. I love that the buttons are handmade and the color is bright and cheerful. I'd probably use the buttons in a craft project or just keep them safely tucked away so I could admire them!
2. Kindle Sleeve by Tomodachi Kitty. I bring my Kindle with me everywhere I go. It would be nice to have a cute cover to protect my favorite reader from bumps and bruises.
3. Handpainted Paper Boat Necklace by ichimo. This necklace is so adorable! I would wear it every day!
4. Dog Bed with Attached Matching Blanket by Addis Designs. My dog is a girl too. I picked this out for her because it's about time that she gets out of my blankets and into her own bed. How could she not love this one?

If you'd like to find out more about these products, please click on the links above.

Thank you for visiting me today!

Thank you for your constant support!

and,

I'm also immensely grateful when talented artists include my beadwork in their beautiful Treasury collections. I appreciate the recognition and I am so flattered!

My beaded heart earrings were included in a collection curated by moois van me. The Treasury is entitled, zot van hartjes!. Pardon me if my Dutch translation is incorrect, but in English I believe this means 'fool of hearts'. Below is a sample of the gorgeous jewelry available in moois van me's shop.  It is called 'pomme d'amour'.

The adorable wiener dog, Sassy SashaDoxie, brought sunshine to my day with a cheerful Treasury called Something Yellow This Way Comes. My yellow daisy earrings were included in this collection. Sassy SashaDoxie spreads happiness by creating charming artwork such as this wiener dog collage greeting card.
