Malasada Revelry

When I think of Mardi Gras, the word "revelry" comes to mind. An exuberant celebration with food, drink, parades, costumes and colorful beads (yay beads!). Here in our home, we don't partake in Mardi Gras festivities but instead, we recognize Fat Tuesday as Malasada Day. Malasada is a donut-like Portuguese pastry covered with lots of sugar. I'll go to the bakery and buy some if the wait is not too long, otherwise I'll just make pretend malasadas using prepared (Pillsbury) buttermilk dough. Brawling over the last hot malasada is part of the party.
