2012 Crafty Goal

I have one goal for my Etsy shop in 2012.  That goal is build my shop's inventory and list one new item a week.  To help me with that challenge, I joined the Etsy team appropriately called "One-A-Week".  Hopefully by joining this team, I will be encouraged and motivated to push my creativeness to a new level.

I am looking forward to connecting with my team members.  Here are a few.
Come see the rest of the member shops at One-A-Week Team on Etsy and come back to visit me next week for my first listing of the new year.

Best wishes, bunches of smiles and happiness to you in 2012!  Thank you all very much for your support.

How to Make Tiny Furoshiki Favors

I made these tiny Furoshiki styled favors for a recent kids' get-together and even had the children make their own to take home and share with mom and dad.  Furoshiki is a Japanese wrapping cloth that is used to wrap gifts, make bags and more.  Better yet, it's eco-friendly.

I started with a 6 inch square fabric with raw edges.  No sewing here.

With right sides together, I folded the square, corner to corner, and created a triangle piece.

I knotted the corners (nearest the fold), making sure that the knots were tight.

Turn the fabric in so that the knots are on the inside and you will have a small pouch.

Fill your pouch with treats.

Knot the top, cut any loose thread, and you're done!

Ninja Christmas Ornament

Our family's 2011 handmade Christmas ornament...a cute ninja with an origami shuriken.

The ninja's head is a clear plastic Christmas ball stuffed with shredded paper but any shatterproof round ornament will do.

The mask is just black plastic tape (like electrical tape) with googly eyes attached.

The hood is my old black nylon stockings (clean) fitted snuggly around the ball.

Up it goes onto our Christmas tree with the rest of our handmade ornaments.

Happy Holidays to you!
